With this reading we would like to invite you to a conversation about reading as a form of self-care and collective care. We will talk about texts that we love and those we lack or miss, touching upon translation, migration, and text adaptation in different contexts across borders and languages. And we will share excerpts of texts in several languages we are currently reading for ourselves.

The reading will be held in English, Ukrainian and Russian.

In the frame of the cycle Lesen am See we would like to invite diverse reading groups and collectives to share their practices,

related to the dialogical nature of text itself as well the community of readers & listeners. The cycle is curated by Agnieszka Kilian.

Lesen am See is a part of the two-year collaborative project

Artistic Ecologies: New Compasses, Tools and Alliances conceived in collaboration with WHW, Zagreb, the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam, and Neue Nachbarschaft/Moabit, Berlin.

The program is co-funded by the European Commission’s Creative Europe program and Foundation Between Bridges.

event program at Strandbad Tegelsee 2023

Mariam Agamian works with antiracism, queer feminism, standup comedy, and theater. Mariam is co-creator of Kviradio, the place for reading queer feminist theory, manifests, poems, and fairytales out loud.

Timur V. is a queer trans poet and anthropologist focusing on gender, migration, borders, and critical europeanization.

Masha Beketova is a writer and cultural researcher interested in queer diasporas, drinking tea, untranslatabilities, and observing rain. Masha was born in Kharkiv and lives in Germany since 2004.

Ju Bavyka is a writer and visual artist living in Sydney on the unceded lands of the Gadigal and Wangal peoples in so-called Australia and sometimes in Berlin. They write, publish, collaborate, and exhibit from a queer migrant perspective. Ju has cultural ties to Kazakhstan and Germany and is a member of artist- and non-artist-run space Frontyard Projects in Marrickville, Sydney.

Galka Yarmanova teaches queer theory from the decolonial perspective in Berlin and Kyiv. They work with visual and textual archives and love binge-watching TV series and going to zine festivals.
